Will this actually help me sleep?

Latika won't promise to fix your sleep. What it does: gives your nervous system a signal that the day is over. Magnesium calms muscle tension, lavender slows the mind, and the ritual itself creates a boundary between work and rest. Over time, a consistent wind-down ritual is one of the most-studied levers for better sleep quality. The sleep is yours; we help you create the conditions.

I don't have a bathtub. Can I still use this?

Yes. The Starter Kit is built for the shower you already have. Calm Whip Scrub replaces your body wash. Shower Steamer turns your shower into aromatherapy. Magnesium Cream goes on before bed. No bathtub required. When you're ready, a once-a-week bath with the Magnesium Soak deepens the ritual, but the bath is the upgrade, not the entry.

How is this different from a magnesium supplement or Epsom salt?

Supplements go through your gut. These go through your skin. Topical magnesium (chloride in the Soak, 12% elemental in the Cream) absorbs transdermally, and unlike a pill, the ritual itself does psychological work a supplement can't. As for Epsom salt: it's magnesium sulfate, a less bioavailable form than chloride. Still useful, especially in combination with it. You can use both; most of our customers find the ritual is the part they look forward to.

How long until I feel a difference?

The ritual effect is immediate. The first night you slow down on purpose, you'll notice it. Some people say they sleep better from their first use, though the full magnesium effect builds over 7 to 14 days. Give it two weeks before you decide.

Is it safe? Pregnancy, sensitive skin, kids?

All Latika products are handcrafted in small batches with recognizable ingredients. The Soak is two ingredients (magnesium flakes + essential oil); the Cream is 15 ingredients with no synthetic fragrance, no parabens, no phthalates.

For pregnancy, sensitive skin, or use with kids under 12, check with your doctor. Not because there's anything in our products to worry about, but because personal sensitivities vary and we're not qualified to give medical advice.

Sleep Wind-Down Ritual

1. Set the boundary

Close the laptop and put your phone on Do Not Disturb or in another room. Walk to the bathroom. The ritual works because it interrupts the "still working" state. Without the deliberate stop, the rest of the steps are just a shower.

2. Place a Calm Shower Steamer on the floor

Set a lavender or Calm-scent shower steamer on the shower floor, away from the direct water stream. Run the water warm. Steam activates the essential oils. Eucalyptol opens airways. Linalool from lavender has a measured calming effect on the nervous system.

3. Shower for 5 to 10 minutes

Slow down. Let the aromatherapy fill the room. This is the moment your nervous system learns to associate with sleep approaching. Use Calm Whip Scrub if you want extra skin softening, not required.

4. Apply Magnesium Cream before bed

Pat dry. Apply Magnesium Cream (12% elemental magnesium) to shoulders, neck, and feet. The magnesium absorbs through skin overnight and helps relax muscle tension. The contact window while you sleep is when absorption is highest.
