Fragrance FAQ

What’s the difference between fragrance oils and essential oils?

Essential oils are naturally derived from plants through steam distillation or cold pressing, while fragrance oils are either fully synthetic or a blend of synthetic and natural components. Both can be safe and skin-friendly when formulated responsibly. We choose ingredients that meet strict safety and quality standards, regardless of their origin. Latika's fragrances are custom and phthalate free.

I’m sensitive to fragrance. Can I still use your products?

Yes. We use only phthalate-free fragrance oils and essential oils that comply with strict safety standards, including those set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). Every scent we use is chosen not just for its sensory appeal, but for its safety, performance, and skin compatibility.

Do your products contain synthetic fragrances?

Some do, and intentionally so. Synthetic components can replicate complex or rare scents that are difficult to source naturally (like sea salt or amber) and allow for more stable, consistent performance in bath and body formulations. We avoid harmful additives and prioritize transparency in all formulations.

I’m sensitive to fragrance. Can I still use your products?

If you have a known sensitivity, we recommend starting with our unscented or essential oil–based options. We clearly label every ingredient panel and never include undisclosed fragrance blends. Always perform a patch test before full use if you're unsure.

Do your essential oils offer aromatherapy benefits?

Yes. Our essential oil–based blends are thoughtfully crafted to support common aromatherapeutic effects- like calming (lavender), uplifting (citrus), or grounding (cedarwood). However, we use them for fragrance, not therapeutic claims, and always at skin-safe levels.

Why don’t you label products as “all-natural” or “chemical-free”?

We believe in honest, intelligent labeling. Everything- including water and essential oils- is a chemical. Instead of leaning on vague claims, we focus on ingredient quality, safety, and clarity. “Clean,” to us, means thoughtfully formulated and transparently disclosed.

Are your fragrances cruelty-free?

Absolutely. Latika Beauty is certified cruelty-free, and none of our fragrances (or other ingredients) are tested on animals.

Why do some products smell stronger than others?

Scent strength depends on the format (like oil vs. soap), concentration, and fragrance type. Some essential oils have a lighter presence, while synthetic components may linger longer. We design each formula for a balanced, enjoyable experience.
