Shower steamers for winding down

Shower steamers for winding down

The evening shower does more work than it gets credit for. It's the line between the day and whatever's left of the night, and most people rush straight through it.

Why the evening shower is worth slowing down

A shower is one of the few moments in the day with nothing else in it: no screen, no conversation, nothing to hold. That makes it a good place to mark the end of the day.

Scent is a fast way to mark it. A scent you only meet at night starts to mean night, and after a week or two it does that work on its own.

Which blend, and why

Calm. Lavender and cooling peppermint, our most reached-for evening blend. The peppermint keeps the lavender fresh instead of sweet.

Self Care. Warm oats, honey and soft vanilla. Softer and more comforting, and the one to pick if lavender isn't your scent. It's made for a cold night.

Relax and Focus. Lavender and peppermint in a balanced blend that settles you without slowing you down. A good pick for an early-evening shower when the night isn't over yet.

Save the bright blends, Energy Boost and Breathe and Release, for the morning. They're built to wake you up.

Building the ten minutes

Set the steamer in a corner of the shower, out of the direct stream, and run the water hot for a minute so there's steam to carry it.

Turn the fan off for the first few minutes so the scent stays in the room.

For a short shower, half a tablet is plenty, and the other half is tomorrow's.

Finish with something on your skin. A cream while you're still warm takes two minutes and gives the whole thing an ending. Our Magnesium Cream, with lavender, is made for right before bed.

Keeping it going

A wind-down works best when you repeat it, so keep it short. Ten minutes in the shower and two minutes after is a routine you can keep every night.

Our aromatherapy steamers come three to a box. At half a tablet a night, one box covers most of a week, so keep a second one in the cabinet.

FAQ

Will a shower steamer help me sleep?
Think of it as a cue. It marks the end of the day, and a consistent cue makes settling down easier.

I'm a morning shower person. Is this for me?
Yes, with a different blend. Use Energy Boost or Breathe and Release in the morning, and keep a Calm box for the nights you shower.

What if lavender isn't my scent?
Try Self Care. It's warm and comforting, with oats, honey and soft vanilla, and it makes a lovely night scent.

Bath or shower for winding down?
A bath when you have the time, and a shower on the nights you don't, which is most nights. That's what steamers are for.
